Rear Admiral Baba Lawal (Rtd), a respected elder statesman, has lauded the launch of the Craft Innovation Hub in Ilorin, calling it “a historic milestone” in addressing youth unemployment and fostering sustainable economic growth in Kwara State.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Rear Admiral Lawal emphasized the hub’s innovative approach. “This is a genuinely transformative project that addresses the realities our young people face. It combines cutting-edge digital skills with essential vocational training, empowering youths not just to find jobs but to create them,” he stated.

Lawal particularly commended the initiative’s founder, Abdulrasaq Ahmed Abiodun, for his visionary leadership. “Initiatives like these are rare but deeply needed,” he remarked. “What Abiodun and his team have achieved here is exemplary. They have shown that youth-led projects can drive substantial community progress and national development.”

Highlighting the practical benefits, Lawal noted, “The Craft Innovation Hub uniquely integrates courses like Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Digital Marketing with vocational skills like plumbing and creative arts. This comprehensive approach ensures our youth are fully equipped to meet market demands and thrive economically.”

Local youth attending the event shared optimism about their futures. Fatima, a trainee in Web Development, expressed excitement: “I now see opportunities here at home. This hub gives us practical tools and confidence to stay and succeed in Ilorin.”

Despite the positive outlook, Lawal acknowledged the journey ahead would require continuous effort. “We must remain committed,” he stressed. “Success depends on sustained collaboration between the government, private sector, community leaders, and our youths. It is only through consistent support that we will reap long-term rewards.”

Rear Admiral Lawal concluded with an inspiring message to Kwara’s youth: “Embrace the opportunities this hub provides. Use your new skills not only to advance yourselves but to uplift our communities. Together, we will build a future of innovation, prosperity, and unity.”

The endorsement by Rear Admiral Lawal firmly establishes the Craft Innovation Hub as a critical asset for Kwara State’s ambitions in youth empowerment and economic sustainability.
