CIH Launch Delivers Free Hepatitis, HIV, and Vital Screenings in Ilorin

In a landmark display of community service and innovation, the newly launched Craft Innovation Hub, in partnership with MABIFUS Medical Diagnostics, provided free, comprehensive health screenings to more than 355 residents of Ilorin today, Thursday, August 7, 2025. The event, declared open by Alhaji Yusuf Yakubu Adewole, the Alangua of Adewole, marked one of the centrepiece activities for the Hub’s inaugural launch month, underscoring its commitment to community impact and social responsibility.

Held at the state-of-the-art solar-powered facility in Agbo Oba Rd, Adeta, Ilorin, the health outreach included tests for Hepatitis B and C, HIV, blood group typing, urinalysis, blood pressure, PCV, and BMI, all at no cost to participants. Residents from across the city queued early, eager for an opportunity rarely available to many in the region. “We are not just opening a technology hub, we are building a healthier, more empowered community,” said Abdulrasaq Ahmed Abiodun, Founder of Craft Innovation Hub. “Our goal is to address Ilorin’s most pressing challenges, and health is foundational.”

This initiative, part of Craft Innovation Hub’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and NGO outreach, was executed in collaboration with MABIFUS Medical Diagnostics, represented on-site by Mr. Adekunle Sulaymon Adeniyi. Medical professionals and volunteers worked through the day, delivering vital health checks and raising awareness about the importance of early screening for silent but deadly diseases. “Community health is community wealth,” explained Mr. Adeniyi, noting that screenings like these can be life-changing for those who might otherwise go undiagnosed.

Beyond the numbers, the event’s true impact was seen in the faces of mothers relieved to know their children’s status, elderly citizens counseled about blood pressure, and dozens referred for follow-up care. One participant, Mrs. Taiwo, described the event as “a blessing for families like ours who often can’t afford private tests.”

Speaking at the opening, Alhaji Yusuf Yakubu Adewole praised the Hub’s vision and called for more private-public collaborations to expand healthcare access: “Craft Innovation Hub is not only equipping our youth with future-ready skills, but is also showing that true innovation begins with care for the community.”

As Ilorin continues to face rising rates of preventable diseases, such interventions are increasingly crucial. The Hub’s free health screening is expected to become a recurring feature, echoing its mission to bridge gaps in both digital and physical well-being.
